The fall colors in September and October can leave you speechless. This is one of the favorite times of the year for many visitors. The temperatures are still quit nice, the colors are breath taking, the wildlife are more active, especially the elk which are in the "rut" at that time, the fishing is excellent, and there are decidedly fewer visitors than during the mid summer months. All in all this is one of the most inviting times of the year.

We will do a custom tour for you in the spring, summer, or fall.  If you have any special requests for a tour itinerary we will do our best to design a tour to accommodate your wishes. The tour departure times, routes, dining options, and duration are subject to modification. Typically the custom private tours of Teton National Park leave Jackson at 8:30 a.m., and include stops on both the inner and outer loop roads of Teton Park. The tour will generally last an average of seven hours, making numerous photographic stops for wildlife and scenic vistas. We can't guarantee wildlife unfortunately, but Grand Teton National Park was listed in 2008 as the best of all our National Parks to view wildlife. The pickup at your lodging facility, and the return to that facility, is included in the tour price. Park entry fees are paid by our guests, and they will be given the Park Entry receipt which will be good for re-entry into either Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks for a period of seven days from the date of issuance.

Stops normally made during the tour would be at places such as the GTNP Craig Thomas Visitor's Center where guests can take advantage of modern restrooms, visit the gift shop, and view a wealth of exhibits, films, and literature on almost any aspect of Teton Park imaginable.   From here we travel just a short distance to the Chapel of the Transfiguration, and Menor's Ferry, where you have an opportunity to view this historic chapel, built in 1925, and then take a self-guided walk around the Menor's Ferry complex (an old Ferry crossing of the Snake River, along with several other interesting exhibits relative to historic transportation vehicles and the "Maude Noble" cabin, which was an integral part in the eventual creation of GTNP as you see it today). From here it would be on to the Jenny Lake region of the Park for photographs of the lake, mountains, and Cascade Canyon

After leaving Jenny Lake there it is a relatively short drive to the summit of Signal Mountain (7734 ft) which offers spectacular views of the Snake River, and the width and breadth of the Jackson Hole Valley. Next it's on to the Jackson Lake Lodge for lunch, unless other plans have been made, such as a picnic lunch (Often your resort lodging facility can furnish picnic lunches if requested.). The Jackson Lake Lodge probably has one of the finest restaurants in the valley, and one of the most spectacular views from any restaurant in the entire area.

This location is also where guests are encouraged to take the short nature trail, located just outside the Lodge, to photograph the mountains, and possibly moose which are abundant in this region. Elk and bear have also been seen wandering the willow flats shown below.

The mountain scenery in Grand Teton National Park is unrivaled. The Tetons, the youngest of all the Rocky Mountains, are also probably the most spectacular of any of the Rocky Mountains found in the contiguous United States. There are seven peaks in excess of twelve thousand feet, with the tallest being the Grand Teton towering 13,770 feet above sea level, and more than a mile above the Valley floor. This peak stands as an ever present sentinel for the Jackson Hole Valley residents and visitors. Six glacial lakes, lying at the foot of the Tetons, offer unsurpassed photographic opportunities to all that will take the time to visit them.

The Grand Teton, in the center, is the highlight of the Teton Range at 13,770 ft., and still rising. The central core of the Teton Range, sometimes called the Cathedral Group, often      finds people standing in silent awe of their "rugged" splendor.

Teton Park, which is roughly 311,000 acres, and the "small brother" to Yellowstone, which is 2.2 million acres, is in it's own right one of the most spectacular, and most beautiful, of all our National Parks. In the late spring and early summer you'll observe the prolific wild flowers which abound throughout the park. Sunrises and sunsets over the lakes, and mountains, leave you in awe of their unsurpassed beauty. There is a sense of magnificence in this region with these majestic works of "nature" where, regardless of your belief system, it becomes obvious that something much greater than ourselves had a hand in all of this.

This view of  Catholic Bay (Jackson Lake) in the early morning hours, with it's mirrored image, often doubles the mountains prominence.
